Pangea

Project for young deaf-mutes

Where we work > Afghanistan

In a suburb of Kabul, Arzan Quemat, there is a school very silent and full of life, populated by people who speak only through signs and gestures. There are about 500 students, ranging in age from one year to eighteen, both females and boys and all are affected by a particular handicap: they are either deaf or deaf.

Afghanistan is a country that still has a long way to go to achieve respect for human rights and women are considered inferior beings, if in addition to this is added to the disability you can well imagine the fate that awaits the girls of our school. One of the objectives that Pangea has set itself is therefore to change the marked destiny of these young women.
